You Are What You Read

Because I love reading and I think that reading with, or to, children is so important, I wanted to share this link. I was watching "The View" today and they announced a new campaign by Scholastic Books to donate a book for each "book print" created on their website. A book print is defined on the Scholastic website as: "the list of books that leave an indelible mark on our lives, shaping who we are and who we become."

A book print is made by simply logging into the website [which can be done via Facebook or Twitter!] and making a list of the five books that have influenced you throughout your life. Go here to get started!

The five books I chose were:
  1. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald - I just loved the time period of the book, and I want to re-read this asap!
  2. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee - I had a great English teacher when I read this book and have re-read it since and also watch the movie whenever it's on.
  3. Amelia Bedelia books by Peggy Parish - These books absolutely cracked me up when I was younger, and still do when I read them to kids I babysit.
  4. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne - I wrote a 12 page paper on this book in high school so I guess I kind of learned to love it! Although I certainly did not at first!
  5. Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult - Jodi Picoult always makes me think twice about who's side I take in her books and I love her "courtroom drama" books. I always finish her books in a week or so but enjoy them so much during that time.
